WHAT HAPPENED?
Girma has become the first $1 million (£800,000) player in women’s football after joining Chelsea from NWSL side San Diego Wave. The 24-year-old played alongside Morgan for both club and country and has clearly learned a lot from the USWNT icon.

WHAT GIRMA SAID
Girma told The Women's Game that Morgan was the "perfect example" of how to be a role model both on an off the pitch. She went on to add: "How she's used her platform and her voice for good – that's something she didn't have to do but she really took it upon herself. Using your voice for good and using that platform is something I've really taken from her. [I am] really grateful I got to have a seat right next to understanding how to operate at the highest level for so many years and [an] understanding [of] what it takes to do that."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Yet Morgan also had some kind words for Girma and highlighted her best qualities. "I've never played with such a smart defender. She doesn't get herself in bad positions because of her positioning and footwork. She times her tackles perfectly. She rarely has to go to ground as a defender which is very rare to see."
